Wikipedia:Rules
Appearance
Any time that people work together, it is important to make rules that they should agree to follow. Most of the rules written here must be followed by everyone, and some of the rules are still being decided.
Most of the time, if a specific rule does not yet exist here, or if a situation is not covered by the policies and guidelines that exist here, we will look at the policies and guidelines on the main English Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, and use common sense.
The Wikimedia Foundation has made rules that can never be changed, because all projects must follow them.
- Wikipedia:Neutral point of view is the most important editing guideline.
- Anyone can edit articles without registering for a username.
- The "wiki process" as the way to decide what is put on the project.
- All writing is available by copyleft licensing. Wikipedia uses the GFDL license.
- Jimbo Wales is the ultimate authority on any matter. This is changing; see meta:Board of Trustees.
