Test2 Talk

[edit]

I don't maintain archives here, if you want something old find it in my history. Xaosflux (talk) 23:43, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop for Amorymeltzer

[edit]

As far as I can tell there isn't a centralized place here like test.wiki, but if you think it appropriate, would you mind flipping the sysop bit here? I can't test anything involving pending changes on test.wiki and just realized test2 has it. Amorymeltzer (talk) 02:16, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done Amorymeltzer, test2wiki is even less formal - if you don't use it for a while (like a year) it may be cleaned up, but is just as easy to restore. Best wishes, Xaosflux (talk) 02:19, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Amorymeltzer (talk) 02:22, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Whelp, that was quick. I had been hoping to move pending changes testing here rather than continue to pollute enwiki, but it's an entirely different configuration. Feel free to remove the flag, sorry for the hassle! Amorymeltzer (talk) 16:35, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

YOU HAVE HEREBY BEEN BANNED FROM ALL WMF PROJECTS!!!!!111ONE

@Koavf: not like I DELETED it - thanks for the clean up, swore I had already hit random page! Xaosflux (talk) 04:22, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just in case you're a complete idiot like me (doubtful): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/checkthemall/?src=searchJustin (koavf)TCM 06:19, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, there is a request.

[edit]

Can I have editor and reviewer rights here? I want to test out Newsletter Extension. Pseudo-Class (talk) 15:57, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Pseudo-Class: no, your request doesn't make sense - especially as that extension is not installed on this project. If you want to try out unusual rights see the note I left you on test1. Xaosflux (talk) 16:41, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inactivity policy

[edit]

Is there one here, re: user rights? For what it's worth, it's totally fine to remove user interface from me for here, I just don't see a policy and I've been active here within the past year, which is usually what I think a cut-off is. —Justin (koavf)TCM 17:36, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Koavf: nothing serious really - we keep testwikis very loose, I was just doing general cleanup and saw you could self-restore that if you needed it so didn't bother to track you down! We very weekly usually clean up users that are sysop and above if they are globally inactive for a while. The general global note on intadmin from meta:Interface administrators is It is recommended to remove the interface administrator rights of inactive users, to reduce the attack surface. - which is all I was doing here. I generally don't clean up sysop/crat unless someone no longer has that on any other wiki's or is otherwise globally inactive. Cool? Xaosflux (talk) 17:57, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. Totally sensible. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:03, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
