Africa is the continent. It is separated:
- from Europe, to the north, by the Mediterranean Sea;
- from Asia, to the east, by the Suez Canal and Red Sea;
- from Australia, to the east, by the Indian Ocean; and
- from the Americas, to the west, by the Atlantic Ocean.
Africa is generally thought to be the continent where the first humans lived.
Africa is the second largest continent, making up the little over the fifth of the world's land.
Africa has many countries.
Africa is surrounded by many water bodies.
About 90% of the total land in Africa is under forest, deserts & wastelands. Thus only 10% of the area has soil suitable for agriculture.
