Richard_Donovan_(runner)[edit]

Please note that I made edits to this page because there were completely untrue statements made on it. Richard Donovan did not organise the South Pole Marathon through any company he owns. He didn't organize it at all. There was also a section called 'litigation' suddenly inserted in the past few days, alleging that he had gained 'noteriety' for litigation in running circles. This section is entirely false with regard to allegations about a Galway City Marathon and its cancellation. Is it not blatantly obvious that somebody came onto this page in the past few days and manipulated it to write a maliciously unbalanced and untrue piece?...with a focus on a single event in ireland that's the subject of a court case, but not for the reasons cited at all? There was even a section on 'UltraRunning ireland alleging that people couldn't be selected for Ireland without being members of UltraRunning Ireland and various other false statements regarding some kind of conflict of interests with commercial races. What on earth is this about? It's entirely invented - please read the third party links currently placed, especially including the article from Athletics Ireland, which make it obvious those statements were untrue. Really, this is infuriating, that Wikipedia can be used in this manner to libel and defame someone. Please simply remove the page than indaequately attemmpt to monitor it and then threaten me for correcting the info with a simple, basic paragraph. Indeed, I have no idea why this page exists at all. Richard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.18.85.240 (talk) 03:22, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for contacting me about this. Wikipedia's policy is to treat biographies of living persons carefully and remove any libel. I'll look more closely at the article and investigate the claims, and make sure that everything is verifiable with credible sources. Whatever can't be verified must be deleted; however, unfavorable facts backed by credible publications generally must not be removed. —Guanaco 03:30, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
Also note you can e-mail the official address for requests to remove derogatory information. —Guanaco 03:45, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

You have simply reverted to false information despite what i've pointed out. It's not acceptable. The very first sentence is even easily verifiable as false. What company of Richard Donovan organised the south pole marathon? The events actually organised by him are omitted and these had been included in the simple edit to remove the false info. Furthermore, the third party (credible links) which showed the other falsities are omitted once again. Why didn't you just revert to the page from weeks ago before somebody with an obvious agenda manipulated the page and you follewed their lead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.18.85.240 (talk) 04:03, 6 June 2017 (UTC) Ok. I can see you've now returned to a version of the page before obvious manipulation with derogatory and completely untrue comments. Thanks for at least taking this action. I will be following up further with Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.18.85.240 (talk) 04:10, 6 June 2017 (UTC) Hi Guanaco, I don't want to spend any more time one this, and how the page was clearly manipulated by a malicious user, but just to clarfiy again for now - I did not organise the South Pole Marathon (!) nor ever owned any company called UltraRunning Ireland - there is no such company to my knolwedge. There was a governing body in ireland called UltraRunning ireland. Please see Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag a few times, but here it's complicated by the same citations being used in mixed combinations all over the article. One option would be to just make that trade and have some duplicate reference entries. —Guanaco 07:40, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
