The substance should be in Native American or Pre-Columbian people or something. Not here. The first two paras of this article explain the confusion with India. That's all this article should do, and explain a few related terms like American Indian Movement which used the old term.

But science no longer uses the term American Indian, it uses pre-columbian. And in politics it is Native American. That's the most neutral.
