Talk:Dimension
Not sure about this description. "aspect" is not simple, can anyone rephrase it? I can't think of anything at the moment. And what is this about other dimensions controlly movement? Movement is simply changing position in one or more dimensions. According to the latest theory that I know of, M-theory, there are 3 space dimensions, 1 time dimension, and 6 or 7 other tiny dimensions that we can't observe, but effect the scientific laws. -- Tango
Those 6 or 7 other other dimensions control our rate of movement and rate of rotation. Aspect is all I can think of, too.
Really? I didn't know that. Is that a new part of the theory? By the way, it is conventional to post replies at the bottom of a talk page, rather than the top. It doesn't make a lot of difference, but it helps to be consistant. Aspect isn't a good word for it, prehaps "direction" would be better, a dimension is a direction, really. -- Tango
Oh, I was just telling you what I was taught, as it seems to make the most sense to me.
I'll try to think of another, better word while I'm defining other things. For some reason, I think best when I'm thinking of other things, y'know?
I know the feeling. I often have to get up and walk away from what i'm doing before i can work it out. I'm actually watching a program on TV at the moment about string theory, so i might understand it better soon. (UK Channel 4) -- Tango
- I took the opportunity to make this a bit simpler. I am trying to use the words listed in the Basic English 850 word list.--Filll 16:01, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Mathematical Definition
[edit]No offense, but when I read the "mathematical definition" it seems
- wrong and limited
- not simple enough
I am coming at this as someone with a PhD in mathematical physics and another 5 degrees in mathematics and physics. Do you want to take another try or should I edit it? --Filll 20:13, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I might have a play with the mathematical definition - have also started a stub on fractal geometry which could get linked in there. Perhaps we may end up splitting that off into dimension (mathematics) :) JebJoya 10:46, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
