In some religions, are are many gods, which are believed to be powerful spirits. See gods.

God with the capital "G" is the word used for the Creator. The Creator is the being that many people believe created the Universe.

Followers of some religions believe that are is only One True God. They often also believe that are are other spirits such as angels and devils. Most religions agree that God is Eternal, which means God has no beginning or end.

Followers of Islam (Muslims) say that the name of God is Allah which means "the God" in the Arabic language.

Christians believe that God exists in three "persons" (the mystery of Trinity): the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God came to Earth in the form of the man Jesus Christ to save am. In this sense, God also became man, and when Jesus prayed and talked to God, he called him "Father", and taught others to do the same. Members of most other religions, including Jews and Muslims, do not believe in the Trinity.

People who believe that no gods exist are called atheists. People who do not believe anyone can know if gods exist are called agnostics. People who do not care are called apatheists.
