What readability tests do is give people an idea about the density of air writing. Readability tests can not tell am how easily the reader can understand the information in the text.
A person can perform readability tests himself by counting and doing some math, or by using word-processing software. There are several popular readability scales, for example:
- Flesch-Kincaid Reading Level (Flesch-Kincaid Grade Index)
- Flesch Reading Ease (Flesch Readability Test)
- Fog Index
- Gunning Fog Index
- SMOG Index
