You can hide it by adding:

.title-shortlink-container { display: none !important; }

to your css file.

thank you very much but i want it to load for all users as well. Is there any permission to edit https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.js? Not just only my username.

Every sysop can edit MediaWiki pages. But first someone should tell us why it is there, and is it important to be there.

Stryn (talk)17:19, 5 September 2014

So what should I do now? and I can't put the code through the https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css cause it says "view source".

This wiki, test2.wikipedia.org, is only a test wiki and the link you want to delete seems a reference to the record containing this page inside the database containing all the pages of the wiki. Perhaps this reference is necessary to some tests here. Showing this reference is a very little detail here. Have you a strong reason to mask it ?

How come the Main Page doesn't have the link below the title of it? Is there any way to remove it in all pages as well? Include my page?

Welcome in wikipedia wikis! There we can see that you explore our wikis for 3 weeks. You ask to change the structure of the page, masking a part of it. There are 2 ways to do that:

  • In configuration files modified by system administrators and modifying the display for all users, like Mediawiki:common.js but where I do not find a part linked to your question.
  • For any user, but modifying only the view of this user on any pages:

I just done it in my own User:Rical/common.js, in java script, and you can do it in your own User:Pinky Jones/common.js
The line to modify is:

$('.title-shortlink').remove();

Best regards.

But when I logged out I can still see the link its really annoying.

Pinky Jones (talk)01:39, 26 September 2014
  • Of course, the User:.../commons.js is activated only if this user is loged, and each time mediawiki display a page. Then the main mediawiki system execute, then Mediawiki:common.js execute, then User:.../commons.js execute and can mask the data-base link (or modify any part of any page), but only for one user loged.
  • Else only an administrator can modify the good parameter or the good code lines to not generate the data-base link that you would mask. but I don't know where and which code or parameter.
  • I am administrator only in fr.wikisource.org .
Rical (talk)10:29, 26 September 2014

So do I have to ask the administrator to change the code on https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css?

Pinky Jones (talk)01:37, 28 September 2014

But can someone remove the link please thank you.

Pinky Jones (talk)00:08, 29 September 2014
  • Only an administrator can change the page of MediaWiki:Common.css. In any normal Mediawiki wikis.
  • Only a system administrator can change the basic structure of all the pages of a Mediawiki wiki.
  • I don't know the names of administrators of this wiki.
  • This wiki is only for tests and nobody come here to read pages, except their creators. No matter the structure of the pages.
Rical (talk)13:14, 29 September 2014

Am I allowed to ask the administrator of this wiki to change the code on https://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css?

Pinky Jones (talk)04:34, 1 October 2014

Yes, anybody can ask any question to any other. And an administrator here answers better than me.

  • You already ask your question in a good place : MediaWiki talk:Common.css, but this tests wiki is rarely checked by admins.
  • In the left column you see Special:SpecialPages (explore its links), where you can find Active users list where you can search some administrator. Then you can write a message on his/her talk page (the normal way) or even "Email this user" in the left column of this user/admin (an exceptional way).
  • Choose an admin who have already answer on his/her talk page.
Rical (talk)09:58, 1 October 2014

Thank you very much :)
