The most common uses of the verb save (past tense: saved) are to mean "to keep" and "to prevent from losing." For example,

In computing, save means to store information permanently on the disk.


In finance (money), save means to keep money is the bank, or other place where it is not spent.


In sports, the save is when the goaltender prevents the goal from being scored.
